Greetings.
Welcome to my own little corner of the internet where I shall lay bare the secret of the publishing world the top dogs in the big offices don’t want you to hear and expose the underhanded goings-on behind some of your favourite authors.
Unfortunately, none of that is true. This site is all about me and my books and I’m afraid to say that I’m an incredibly dull person and have no secrets to share. Fingers crossed you’ll take pity on this humble writer and you’ll have a nosey around to see if any of my books take your fancy.
So, a wee bit about me. I am a CWA nominated author (I didn’t win) of more than TWENTY crime fiction novels. I write the bestselling DCI Matilda Darke series of novels and the (not-so bestselling) Dr Olivia Winter series, as well as a smattering of standalone novels, too. I am published by an imprint of HarperCollins and Audible.
I was born and bred in Sheffield, South Yorkshire some time during the 1900s and it is in this county where the DCI Matilda Darke novels are set. While living there one of my jobs was a journalist (I wasn’t a very good one) but it involved writer so I was happy. It’s during this short-lived career where I learned all about police procedure and the courts and met some wonderful people who I am still in contact with to this day who help with my research.
In 2023, I decided on a break and left the steel city behind me. I now live in Newcastle and I write full time. When I’m not writing crime fiction, I’m reading crime fiction or eating fried egg sandwiches and drinking champagne (true story).
